Composing an Exhibit
My first project focused on networking and how there are many ways to network an organization or a business. I chose this particular focus because of my recent leadership role as Seminole Dance Force’s Public Relations Chair. I have worked on the social media to improve our reach and have been shocked by the multitude of ways you can network to other people. My exhibit focuses on the idea that there is more than just one way of networking to an audience. In order to create my exhibit, I examined the reach of my posts and what kind of posts attracted the most attention. I studied the trends both during the time leading up to our annual auditions and after on a variety of mediums. I examined how some platforms tend to have more popularity and reach amongst an audience, but that also touched on the idea that networking in person is just as important.
Writing and composing are similar but just slightly different. I consider writing as a form in which one can record his/her thoughts while composing a more carefully thought out process of creating. This project required me to compose an exhibit that taught my audience something new about networking. In order for it to be effective, I could not just record what I believed networking to be, I had to pick and choose what aspects I wanted to include that would be most beneficial in showcasing the many ways you can network. Composing allows you to really focus on how design communicates your message and overall figures out what the most effective way to communicate is. You can focus on including information and aspects like images and captions to truly highlight you message in the most effective way possible. No matter the key term that was selected for this project, each of us had to use each term to create an exhibit that conveyed the message we wanted to tell our targeted audience. We had to focus on our projects exigence and how the design, material, and assemblage all came together to convey the new information about our key word to our interested audience. Our exhibit would not have been effective if we did not use every one of the class’ key terms to create it.
