Unoriginality

In today’s society it is very easy to share information with other people. Whether it is a video or a quotation, with a click of a button we can share it with our closest friends and family. For that reason, it is very easy for someone to remix another person’s work. In pop culture most recently, we’ve seen a circulation of fashion trends and music that is reminiscent of ones that were popular 20-30 years ago. Trends like chokers, overalls, and crop tops have gained an increased popularity and that was something commonly seen in the 80’s and 90’s. No one would have ever predicted they would make an appearance again. In addition, many songs contain samples tracks and back tracks of popular songs from decades ago. They have reassembled it with new lyrics and a possible track on top of it, but it still contains unoriginal material. Take Selena Gomez’s song, Bad Liar , includes a sample of the 1970’s hit by the Psycho Killers, Talking Heads . Here is a link to both son...

Composing an Exhibit

My first project focused on networking and how there are many ways to network an organization or a business. I chose this particular focus because of my recent leadership role as Seminole Dance Force’s Public Relations Chair. I have worked on the social media to improve our reach and have been shocked by the multitude of ways you can network to other people. My exhibit focuses on the idea that there is more than just one way of networking to an audience. In order to create my exhibit, I examined the reach of my posts and what kind of posts attracted the most attention. I studied the trends both during the time leading up to our annual auditions and after on a variety of mediums. I examined how some platforms tend to have more popularity and reach amongst an audience, but that also touched on the idea that networking in person is just as important. Writing and composing are similar but just slightly different. I consider writing as a form in which one can record his/her thoughts while...

Dethroning a Monumental Moment

https://wearemitu.com/entertainment/despacito-has-been-dethroned-by-taylor-swift-will-stay-tied-with-mariah-carey-and-boyz-ii-mens-spot-for-most-weeks-at-1/ Today the tragic news came in that the smash Spanish hit, “Despacito” has been bumped down on the billboard charts due to Taylor Swift’s newest release of her song, “Look What you Made me Do.” “Despacito” has ruled at the top of the charts for 16 weeks, making it close to breaking Mariah Carey’s record. The news channel of “mitĂș” was quick to highlight this news as its mainly Hispanic audience has been carefully watching to see how much longer the smash hit would continue succeeding. This network is one of my absolute favorites as it really allows me to identify with my Hispanic heritage. Their channel is entirely focused on targeting the Hispanic community and bringing them all together through common interests and experiences. It provides for a network of people and content that caters to a part of who we are as people. “Despa...

What is Writing?

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-VQ3fW7NhOGaFJDYW03aFRad1k From my findings, I get a general consensus that writing the act of putting your thoughts and feeling on paper, whether it’s for academic purposes or just to dump out your innermost feelings. This type of writing occurs in our everyday lives whether it’s by sending out a text message or by writing a discussion board post for your History class. If the writing is more personal, often times I found it is done in a journal somewhere quiet, like one’s room where there is no fear of judgment amongst one’s thoughts. It is also common for academic pieces to be done in a library where there are no distractions from getting the paper done. Everyone liked how freeing writing is and that often times there are no rules as to what and how you can write about. It can be anything they want it to be. Often times the dislikes about writing stemmed around the rules and guidelines set about by classes, whether it’s because of word count or ...
